Moments in Rhythm
A presentation workshop for the young musicians of tomorrow.

What the students have to say!

Main page image

Objective:
To provide young music students as well as non-music students with an interactive introductory experience into the world of rhythm and percussion.

Moments in Rhythm
clinic/workshop/presentation:
Although intended for percussion students, all music students can benefit from Moments in Rhythm. Moments in Rhythm is structured in such a way that it assumes the student has little or no experience reading music. Basic reading can be reviewed and reinforced with examples throughout the workshop.

I work interactively with the students discussing the origin and evolution of the drum, Volunteer Playingrhythm and how it is used today with examples demonstrated on drumset, congas and other percussion instruments. All students will be clapping, tapping, banging different rhythmic patterns regardless of whether or not they can read music. An opportunity will also be provided to tryout the various percussion instruments. The entire presentation is done from the perspective of a performing professional currently in the music industry.
